Development of cross-border gastronomic tourism

The main outcome of the Kalitka Project should be a cross-border gastronomic tourism route.

It will allow tourists to get acquainted with the peculiarities of the national cuisine on both sides of the border.

The project is being implemented on the territories of the Republic of Karelia (Russia) and North Karelia (Finland) and is aimed at the development of cross-border gastronomic tourism and socio-economic support of adjacent territories by combining enterprises on both sides of the border based on the culture of national cuisine. Funded by the Karelia teaching staff program.

Project Kalitka will improve the quality of the gastronomic tourism product. It will enrich the gastronomic experience of visitors to Finland and Russia, and attract new tourist flow to the target area of the project.

We aim to stimulate the development of local small and medium-sized enterprises, increase employment and the contribution of culinary tourism to the local economy. For this, it is important to develop new ways to involve local producers in the tourism industry.
